This Father’s Day will be a little different for my family as there’s a new baby in the picture! A little over a week ago, my sister had her first child, a son named Lincoln. I’m kind of big time majorly in love, and have been fortunate to spend a good bit of time with them since his arrival. Y’all, it has definitely been eye-opening; I have a whole new appreciation for new parents! And while my sister is showing inhuman strength fighting through this first little bit with a newborn, I’ve also been floored with the strength of her husband.
Any time of the year, new dads deserve some appreciation. We just happened to luck out and get to celebrate this dad right after the little man was born! Getting a front row seat to this phase has shown me a few things that really come in handy in this transition. Featuring the VTech VM981 Expandable HD Video Baby Monitor with 1 Wi-Fi Camera and a 5″ Touch Screen, this list includes ways to help a new dad relax and breathe easy with his new one!
One. Restaurant gift cards.
A new baby means no time to cook, no time to grocery shop, no time for so many things that require time. While gift cards to restaurants can provide an evening out for the couple, they can also opt for some easy take-out meals too. Make it even better by supplying some disposable plates and silverware so that dishes can be kept to a minimum.
Two. A Round of Golf
Truth be told, this is probably my brother-in-law’s favorite. No matter how much you love your wife and baby, you are bound to need a break. Everyone is. You’d be hard pressed to beat a day on the course with the guys. It’s the perfect way to get a little escape, relax, and let out some tension. It also lets you take off the constant responsibility for a short while. With the monitor featured below, you can even keep a check on the baby while you play! Warning: giving the gift of 18 holes does not ensure a “good round” for the player. Relax-ability could be correlated to score at the end of the round;).
Three. A Subscription to a TV Service.
In between the feedings, changings, trying-to-get-to-sleepings, and the restlessness that is the sleep in between, having a TV to watch greatly helps to pass that time and provide entertainment. Whether a program like Netflix or Hulu, or even Redbox movie codes, this just helps to add some enjoyment to the many tasks that are a new baby!
Four. A Manly Diaper Bag.
This sounds silly, but truth be told most diaper bags are in no way, shape, or form boyish. But the guy is bound to do some carrying around too! Having a leather or dark-colored bag will help toughen it up. There are some that could even pass as backpacks or toolbags!
Five. A Must-Have Baby Monitor
There are few things you can offer a new dad more beneficial than the peace-of-mind that their little one is doing just fine when they aren’t right beside them. The VTech VM981 Expandable Video Monitor provides a crystal-clear picture so that a new dad can take care of what needs to be done while keeping an eye on the baby. Motion alerts let the parents know when the baby is awake and moving. Great thing is, VTech devices can grow and expand as a family or a family’s needs change. They even have options that include lullabies! It’s compatible with the MyVTech Baby app for Apple iOS and Andriod devices so you can check in on the little one from anywhere. It also has night vision!
Bonus: This could even double up as a Father’s Day gift for grandfathers! Using the app, they can also keep an eye on the little one. This video does an excellent job showing you the features. The VTech VM981 is currently available on Amazon, here, and is on major sale – almost $100 off!
New dads deserve so much more than just a gift, but these 5 things could go a long way in making this time just a bit easier, letting them love on their little one more!
