5 Habits You Need in Your Nighttime Routine

When I started teaching, I thought it would monopolize my life. I thought it would consume all of my time. I expected to spend many afternoons and evenings devoted to it. I do spend many afternoons and evenings devoted to it, but now that time is shared. Because I decided to go out on a limb, follow my heart, and start a blog. And this little hobby of mine? It’s grown to be so much more.

I absolutely love blogging, but it is time-consuming. Truth be told, that’s an understatement. But because I’m not okay putting in mediocre effort on either of my jobs, that can lead to some late nights and a hard time sleeping. While there are many things you can do to help get better sleep and make nighttime easier, there are a few habits that are tried and true for me. The easiest for me to incorporate? First and foremost, I have to admit that this is something I struggle with. I’m not the best at maintaining a nighttime routine. But you guys, I suffer the consequences. One. Lay out your clothes. Taking 3 minutes to make this decision the night before can save me 15 minutes in the morning. When waking up, I’m indecisive and just not fully aware. I can change my mind multiple times before I’m ready to leave. However, I rarely ever change my mind if I’ve selected an outfit the night before. I get excited to wear it and feel more peaceful when getting ready. It also takes that item off my mental to-do list, helping to clear my mind before sleep.

Four. Have your own type of quiet time. Be it actual meditation, yoga stretches, listening to music, or journaling. It could even be something as simple as reading, Find something that helps take your mind off the world around you and allows you to rest. Designate a time for that each night.
