Valentine’s Day is always a special day, but this year’s Valentine’s Day just might take the cake for my husband and me! We will have countless more throughout our relationship, but this will be the last one as just us two – a family of two!
We’ve been so busy lately, preparing the nursery and getting things ready for our new addition, even just simply budgeting for a baby and the purchases that come with it. We’ve tried to add relaxing into that mix (I’ve been told you kiss that goodbye when the baby is born;)), but relaxing isn’t spending intentional time together. And what is Valentine’s Day if not a day to be truly intentional with each other?
We’re determined this year to take some time for just the two of us – to put aside the planning and preparation for some us-time, a “babymoon” of sorts if you will. I’m sure that as the next few years approach, that’ll be even harder with children in the mix. But then, it’ll be all the more necessary to. Keeping it on the smaller scale enables us to still get that time while not feeling as if we are sacrificing anything else. These seven ideas are both affordable and easy to add into your plans, making them perfect for busy couples. To make the time truly intentional, we always rely on Hallmark Signature Cards to complete the picture!
No matter what activity you do to celebrate each other, a Hallmark Greeting Card should definitely be added to the mix. I always receive so much enjoyment to see what card Brett purposefully picked out for me, and save them each and every year! They show me that he took that extra little bit of time to pick something out with me in mind. Hallmark Signature Cards are an easy thing to add to any of these ideas, but definitely help to take it from just a regular date level to the true Valentine’s Day level!
One. Go on a picnic. Now, if you live somewhere like me, February doesn’t necessarily have the best picnic weather. We could sit in our car at an overlook, but I’d probably switch this out for tossing a blanket in front of the fireplace in our living room. You can go 4-course fancy, or you can order a pizza. Whatever fits you two as the couple the most!
Two. Have a traveling dinner date. Start with drinks and appetizers at one of your favorite restaurants, then move on to the main meal at another. Finish it up with dessert at a third, or your favorite dessert spot in town. You could even just get appetizers at different places, and fill up off of those! Nights like these always end up being my favorite with my husband – it’s almost like an adventure of sorts!
Three. It’s cliché – but dinner and a movie. The older we get, the harder it is to commit time to actually going to see a movie in theaters. The act of going to the movies with him, splitting popcorn and a drink, it always feels like a date and is something we really enjoy. Adding Hallmark Signature Cards into the mix really helps kick it up a notch.
Four. Take a class together. I’m a sucker for little art classes with your favorite beverage of choice, but I’ve also heard of cooking classes, pottery classes, and more! Most of these are very inexpensive for just a one time visit but something so fun to do as a couple. They would certainly get you laughing! They also don’t take long out of your day, but can easily be made into night out on the town.
Five. My personal favorite – dedicate a night to a movie night in. The husband and I watch movies all the time, but rarely pick out a movie with that specific purpose, share a couch, and cuddle up together for it. Even making a pallet on the floor (bonus points if it’s by the fireplace!) could take a regular movie night to a different level. Exchanging Hallmark Signature Cards set it apart, too!
Six. Play laser tag or go to an escape room together. I know this sounds silly to do with just two people, but going to an escape room with just my husband is so much fun for me! We see each other in a different element than we typically are in, and it definitely gets our adrenaline going. Any challenge or competition aspect similar to those two could be fun!
Seven. Cook dinner together. In our family, I typically cook and he cleans. Switch it up and have both of you in the kitchen – you’re bound to have laughs. Pick something fun to make that allows you to be a little creative, like pizza or an assortment of appetizers. Even just making and decorating cookies together would be a blast! (Bonus points if your cookie matches the Hallmark Signature Card you’re giving!) If you end up having an icing fight… I won’t tell;). This would be easy to combine with a few other suggestions above!
All of these are great date ideas throughout the year, but to make them truly memorable for Valentine’s Day, a Hallmark Signature Card from Walmart can make all the difference. It adds that sentimental touch and shows the thought put behind making the day special. I love the card the husband picked out for me; Hallmark Signature Cards often have an element you can save. This one is a hanging frame that happens to fit perfectly into our nursery decor! Walmart had such a great selection of the Hallmark Signature Cards that it was hard to pick; I went with tried and true black and gold.
You can’t miss Walmart’s selection of Hallmark Cards: they were the first thing we saw when we walked through the door! The newest collection of Hallmark Signature Cards are distinctly labeled.
