April’s Best & May Goals

Spring is here and I am soaking every minute of it up. Even the rain it brings I’m loving, as it gives me a little bit of motivation to get some spring cleaning done (which, if anyone has any advice on how to get motivated for that, I’m all ears!) April had some of my favorite posts yet on this little blog, which makes me feel like I’m moving forward based on my satisfaction alone. I think I shared more on my personal Facebook account than I typically do, just because I felt like I actually wrote posts that are worth sharing.

May Goals

I feel pretty successful in regard to the April goals I set for myself. I met 4 out of 5, which is way better than my typical success rate;). I contacted a brand, I commented more, I utilized my planner, and I wrote at least one travel post (and a beauty post, too!) If I head into summer strong, I really think it’ll be so much easier to hit the ground running and really devote myself to making this into what I want it to be.

One. Carry over: get ahead in picture-taking. I have really struggled with this in April. With my husband having golf practice every afternoon and being gone on trips for school, I’ve had to rely on my sister a bit. She also is super busy, so when we meet together, it’s to fit in what absolutely has to be taken for the next week and that’s it. Luckily, Husband’s life will get much less busy this week which will hopefully result in less pressure to get shots in!

Two. Step up my Pinterest game. I hear all the time how Pinterest is a leading traffic source for other bloggers, and it is easily one of my lowest. I need to change that! I know that just takes time, but I hope to develop an actual pinning strategy to help with this. Shameless plug: follow me here!

Three. Reach out to 4 brands. With one done, I feel 10 times more confidence about it. My goal is to finish my media kit today (if I’m not being over ambitious) and start reaching out. 5 brands sounded scary, 3 sounded like not enough. So 4. Four brands. One month. I got this.

Four. More travel, beauty, faith posts. Sometimes, I’m actively seeking topics for a faith-based post and none come. Right now, I feel like I have a running list of ones I want to write!  That’s a great problem to have, but that’s also a lot of pressure as those are by far the most important posts. I also intend to share some of this travel destination that I live in. Maybe actually get up the guts to contact Boone or Blowing Rock companies for collaborations (if you have a hook-up, let me know!).

Five. Make more blogger friends. I feel pretty good about this. I (super) recently joined Style Collective and am very excited about that. Commenting more on others helps me to have regular followers, and there’s just something about that back and forth interaction that makes you feel like you know someone. Blogger friends make me happy.

How was your April? What are your goals for the month?

  • I loved this post! You really have it together in my opinion. I hate to use the word jealous because it’s so negative sounding, but I’m jealous of you blog layout, your confidence to reach out to brands, and the lighting on your pictures!! I’m with you on growing a Pinterest… I created one and I think I have one follower- my best friend. Hahaha I’ll need to come follow you! 🙂

    • Oh it took so, so long to build up that confidence! It’s still such a shaky thing! I talk myself out of everything, and tell myself I’m not a big enough blogger for that yet. Andddd a lot of the lighting is edited! But it really does mean so much to hear you say that- It affirms that I’m doing at least a few things right:) And I’d love to follow you on pinterest!!

  • You’ve had some great instagram outfits!

Good luck with your goals this month, they sound really achievable!

    • Thank you, Mica!! Small steps make all the difference:)

  • It sounds like you rocked April and you have some great, ambitious–but still do-able–goals for May. I really need to step up my Pinterest game too, and also reach out to more brands. I started the year off really motivated when it comes to blogging, but that motivation has since tapered… I hope it comes back!
