First, these shorts were quite possibly the best clothing purchase I made this summer. They got so much wear, and are some of the most comfortable shorts I own. I have the darker of two washes, but am really thinking about getting the second pair. They also are currently on sale!
But really, I kind of love this type of outfit. I’ve always loved the look of long sleeves and shorts, especially when that long sleeved item is a sweater or flannel. Maybe because it reminds me of my favorite times of the year, when the weather is that perfect temperature in between cold and hot. I guess I just feel laid back in it? Easy going? I don’t even know if that makes sense, but that’s the feeling this outfit gives me.
I didn’t realize till after the fact, but the two main pieces of this outfit are from J.Crew Factory. I really think some of the longest lasting items in my wardrobe are from that store. It helps to have one close by when so few stores are local, but it really helps that it’s kind of perfectly my style and items I want to wear year after year. Like these shorts – they will always be handy to have.
Also, fun fact, like any girl with fuller thighs, mine have tended to show a little more cellulite over the years. I was super close to editing that particular flaw out in these pictures and had to convince myself not to. My thighs will always be bigger. I like good food, and happened to have pretty strong legs growing up. Ice skating and weight training will do that to you. And while I don’t love to look at them, what kind of role model would I be to younger girls if, in hiding that, I’m letting them know that I’m not comfortable with it? If I see it as a flaw in myself… what’s to stop them from doing the same?
So, moral of the story is this: find an outfit that’s comfortable and cute, and ignore the things you don’t like about yourself;).
