Today is a special day on the blog! I’m collaborating with some lovely friends and bloggers to share our New Year’s Eve looks! I love that each and every one of the girls chose to style this holiday so differently.I think we can all agree on one thing: New Year’s Eve is the perfect excuse to add some flare. I love them all! Be sure to check their pages out for more outfit inspiration:)

For my look, I went with the no-fail for NYE: sequins. I don’t own a ton of sequined items, but the ones I do are great for making a statement or pulling out at that special occasion. Lately, I’ve had a thing for comfy sweaters paired with cute skirts.

I hate that this skirt is old, or else I would tell everyone to go out and buy their own right now. It’s a taupe silk with black sequined lace on top and I truly believe that combination would look good on everyone. Black tights are perfect under it, but doesn’t look bad on its own either. I alternate between this skirt and a black and gold floral skirt when wanting to be a little fancy [or when we decide to actually go on a date to somewhere other than a sports bar or brewery]. They can just be paired with so many tops for so many occasions!

Adding in a fuzzy sweater keeps me warm when it gets chilly at night and helps add a bit of modesty to an outfit. I live in a small town as a teacher – I can never go out dressed like a typical girl in her twenties. This sweater was a recent T.J. Maxx find [if I could have a crush on a store… it would be T.J.Maxx] but Target carries one just like it! Combining textures also seems to throw in another little fancy element. Skirts like these would also look great with a basic white or black sweater. You could add some extra fun in cobalt blue or bright red!

Black tights and booties are great for making the outfit winter-appropriate [although when you turn your A.C. on in December, you don’t really believe it’s winter]. My booties are around $35 from Target and super comfortable. I’m all for finding a way to add height with shoes I can wear at work!

Have you planned out your New Year’s Eve look? Any big plans?

Hi Emily. Merry Christmas first of all! I will most definitely catch up more with the rest of your blog but I wanted to stop by now and comment on today’s collaboration post we did. Thank you for saying that it is a special day! You look special mixing and matching something more sexy and more glam like your sparkly black mini with something more demure and softer like that blush basket-weave sweater. I love and want both pieces. Also, the booties you linked in the collage are they the same Target bootie you are wearing?

So glad we did this. Also, so nice to see that several of us were thinking similar ideas for NY Eve, yet all of our outfits look and feel quite different. =)

    • I completely agree! I love that they are all different, but all have that same flare:)! They are the same booties I linked! I had one goal when I went home for Christmas- find black booties! Thank YOU, Ada, for putting this together! Can’t wait to catch up on your posts, too!

  • This is such a fun way of dressing for NYE without compromising comfort – I love the embellishment poking out from underneath the fluffy jumper! 🙂

  • All your looks are so pretty and festive for NYE. I love the combination of soft pink + black right now, it’s one of my favorites. You can never go wrong with some sequins either!
