I get really excited to try new things, especially when I have a good feeling I will like them. When Rachel recommended So Choix to me, her good word in addition to founder Ellie’s excellent first impression made me super eager to try this subscription service out.
Friends, I was not disappointed in the least!
So Choix (say it like schwaaa) is like a make-up counter brought to your front door. It’s a $15 monthly subscription where you pick 5 samples of high-end, designer make-up to try out. You can get additional samples for $3, or give it a try without the subscription for $5 per sample. If you choose to purchase something, you’ll have $5 credit to go toward that each month. Every sample is supposed to be enough for one try, but I can guarantee I’ll get multiple uses out of my samples.
When a company has good customer service, you know you’re going to enjoy it. That’s what impressed me right away with So Choix. The samples come with applicators to help with usage. Truth be told, that’s the only downfall I found with this. When trying out a mascara, often I select what I choose based on the brush. You get a standard brush with the samples, but that’s just like how it would be at a make-up counter as well.
The samples, y’all. SO many to choose from. This was my first experience using some really high end brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Burberry. You can pick from just about every type of make-up you can imagine in addition to nail polish and perfumes. I think it would be super neat to get a collection of lip glosses or mascaras to truly compare and get results. I wanted to create most of a full look with my samples, so I chose a variety.
To give you a reference of size, this is the Benefit “Gimme Brow” Volumizing Brow Gel Sample. Definitely enough for more than one use!
Even though this was one of the most expensive items I tried, it was probably my least favorite. It’s VERY true to its name in that it feels just like cashmere. Super soft concealer, but the coverage wasn’t all that. I wanted something to knock out under eye circles, bad spots, etc. It just didn’t really. Not one I’d buy, but worth the try!
Now this is one I want to play around with more. I liked the color, I liked the application. It is pigmented enough without being too strong. It does have more shimmer in it than I expected, but I wasn’t displeased with that on. Good quality, but I probably wouldn’t buy it. Definitely enough for multiple uses though!
So when I first tried this, I put it on dry. The pink applied a pretty light base, but you wouldn’t really notice it unless you were intentionally looking for it. I applied it wet, and it made ALL the difference. It was definitely more pigmented that way, but still wasn’t overbearing. Certainly a subtle eyeshadow. You can see a hint of it in the very last picture – a pretty little touch!
This is a product that I wish I could have tried with the actual applicator, but even without it I’m a huge fan! I really enjoy using brow gels as my hair is darker than my eye brows. This one had great reviews, and it lived up to the expectations. It didn’t make my brows look fake or painted on, but just gave them more color and a fuller appearance. This product is on my wishlist now, for sure!
Y’all, I LOVED this lipstick. I’m much more of a lipstick fan than lipgloss, so the idea of liquid lipstick intrigued me. It was super easy to apply using the applicator it came in and went on full coverage so smoothly. Definitely highly pigmented, and definitely lasting. One use lasted me through a drink and dinner a couple of hours later. It dried so fast and lived up to the “matte” name. The color was pinker than I expected, but I ended up realllly liking it. This is for sure on my list to buy! At $24, I’d say that’s a really good price for a great quality lipstick.
I was definitely a fan of the entire So Choix subscription process. Definitely check out their website and explore the samples, you’d be surprised how many they have! And sorry for this SUPER close up, but that lip color😍!
I was gifted a sample So Choix box, but all opinions are my own!
