The Best Type of Dress for Layering

Okay first, tell me this isn’t the cutest umbrella you ever did see? The little poms have me all heart-eyed.

I’m always so intrigued by the idea of layering with dresses. Whenever I see other bloggers styling a dress that way, I always envy it and want to recreate it. I love the idea of getting multiple uses out of an article, so of course this entices me. The easiest one to play around with? A shirt dress. This classic striped one is older, but just about every store has an option to offer. Each wardrobe should have one, just for the sheer possibilities they present.

Because I’m big time craving the beach, I opted to pull this older nautical sweater out of my closet. I like the pattern play between the stripes and wheels. Old navy has a super cute anchor sweater right now I’m crushing on. The best sweaters for layering tend to be slightly on the looser side, but not too loose that the appear baggy on top of something else. I also love stripes for layering, as they can be partnered with so many different types of patterns.

As for accessorizing, I love this happy umbrella for spring! It also is giving me all the feels thanks to how perfect it is for this Beauty and the Beast phase with those sweet roses. Natural Life has a whole collection of precious umbrellas, and I kind of want them ALL. This necklace is also becoming a staple in my outfits. I’ll be featuring it and some others in a post soon, but Taudrey jewelry does not disappoint.

What’s your favorite way to layer with dresses? I’d love new ideas!
