Friday Favorites October 23rd

Due to being under the weather last week, this Friday’s post is going to contain all the shining moments from two weeks rather than just one!

Faithful friends. I’m so, so blessed to be surrounded with such lovely people. Earlier this week, a friend shared  a song with me that I think is worthy of passing along:). Don’t just listen- read the words.

Hear this as a letter to you from the Father. Tell me if it doesn’t wreck you.

Field Trip. I had the pleasure of going to Great Wolf Lodge on a field trip with a group of 5-8th graders. I’ve got to admit- I had never been on an overnight field trip as a chaperon before. I was slightly terrified. Fortunately, I was worried for no reason at all! The trip was quite a blast- who wouldn’t want to go to a water park on a field trip? Even though both myself and a large group of students all ended up getting sick, the trip was still worth it.

Grant winning. I mentioned a few Fridays ago that I had won a grant for robotics. I applied for two, hoping I had a chance at getting just one. Luckily enough, we’ve been awarded both grants!  This second one is a Bright Ideas Grant, which is state-wide but awarded by area. We were one of 20 grants awarded, and there were 87 applications turned in! This funding will enable us to purchase 6 robots to add to our current amount of 5. that Gives us 11 between over 30 students, making it 3 kids to a robot and giving every student the chance to really be hands on. So, so blessed be supported by our community!

Holiday Decorating. I love having a fall-themed house this time of year. Unfortunately, Brett and I have been so busy that we haven’t had the chance to create that look. With friends staying at our place this weekend, we finally added just a bit to spruce it up.

Perfect Weather. Right now in Boone, the mornings are in the 30s-40s and the days are in the 60s. It’s textbook layering weather. The days are beautiful, being outside is a must. The leaves are also just past peak, which means every drive is like out of a movie. I love living in the mountains.
To combat the daily weather change, I’m loving these items for layering:

I have this gray and white striped scarf, and I truly wear it a couple times a week. So soft and so comfy. This vest has also been my go-to for what to make an outfit a little warmer without being over the top.

Tailgating. We had our first Thursday night football game yesterday at App. While this made for a late night, we thankfully have a teacher workday today. My dad drove up for the game [true fan, he comes to almost all the home games] which means we got a little quality father-daughter tailgating time:) Also- App won, against arguably our biggest rival. Big win. Go Apps!Darling, Dearest

What made your week shine?
