Friday Favorites

Sunday Seven

I’m really struggling to make myself go to sleep earlier. The to do list isn’t going to go away. Not getting x, y, and z done won’t be the end of the world. I have trouble setting expectations for myself (especially with blogging) that are higher than I can or should reach, and I let that hang over my head. So, why is this post being published on a Sunday rather than the usual Friday? Because on Thursday night, I chose sleep. I’m having to train myself how to let my life come before the blog sometimes. If you ask my husband, he’ll say I have a long way to go:).

One. Talent Shows. Every year, my school system has a county wide talent show. And you would be amazed at the talent that a small county like ours can produce! I swear I heard the next big things in bluegrass and saw the future backup dancers for T. Swift. This kids, y’all. They have what it takes!

Two. Style Collective.  I recently joined the community called Style Collective, and am I ever thankful. All those awkward questions that you have no idea who to ask but really need/want to know the answer to as it pertains to blogging? This is where they are not only accepted, but encouraged. Such sweet girls and such genuine engagement comes from this group. I’m excited to be a part of it and see where it takes me!

Three. Stealing my sisters puppy and going for walks. When I was in college, I spent two summers staying at my sisters house. During the school years, I frequently kidnapped her dog to be my hiking partner. Kyah and I haven’t had the chance to do that in a while, but I’m determined to change that! She accompanied me for a walk and watched a few student baseball games this week, and it was crazy how hard it hit me that I missed those times. There’s just something so relaxing about walking with a dog. Andddd it’s super nice to get one when I want her, but not have to suffer through the breathing difficulties of living with her.

Four. Enjoying Boone. I’m just going to let the pictures explain why I love taking drives in my town (pardon the quailty- phone camera here):

I mention this town I live in so often because it is so great. During the middle of our busy Saturday, my husband and I stopped at the Mast General Store for ice cream. The Mast General Store is a mountain classic (it has a room entirely devoted to candy!) I’m a big fan of enjoying the little moments like this spent with my husband amidst a very busy day!

Five. I’m really crushin’ on summer shoes right now. Sandals and wedges are all that I want to wear. These aren’t in my price range, but I absolutely love them! These might just be in my shopping cart right now.

Six. River Baptisms. My husband and I have been mentors this past year for two 6th graders at our church. This weekend was their confirmation, which is such a powerful thing in and of itself. To start the weekend, we gathered together with a big group of our church family to be a part of the baptism of 5 of the kids, while remembering our own. Such a celebration in so many ways. This weekend was full of occasions that I had to pinch myself to keep in the tears!

Seven. Time spent at home. This week started with Mother’s Day, and I’ll take any chance I get to celebrate my mom and spend time with my family. Those are two things I absolutely love.Darling, Dearest Darling, DearestDarling, Dearest Darling, Dearest Darling, Dearest

How was your week, darling?
