Why yes, I am crazy. Yes, there is a little snow on the ground. Yes, I am wearing open-toed shoes. As you’ll see on my face, I’m completely rethinking my prior analysis of this outfit.
I like to think that if I lived somewhere other than the mountains and had a profession other than teaching, I’d invest in a few more pairs of heels and show them the attention they deserve. When looking for these, I realized how many pairs I have that just simply don’t fit my style anymore. Sure, at one point in time I loved them. That’s the thing with style – it changes. Of course the current trends do, but personal style does as well. I’m working on convincing myself that while a certain dress style might not be common in my small town, that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be the one to wear it.
Heels and jeans typically aren’t my look – but I love them when I see anyone else wearing them. While taupe or darker gray boots would look cute with this, heels add an extra “kick” (ha – get it?) for transitioning months in the spring. Just don’t be a fool like I am, feeling the snow on my bare feet!
Speaking of jeans, I hate that I waited until this year to discover the joys that come with a good pair of white jeans. It’s like my eyes have been opened to a world of possibilities. I’m really enjoying the lightness of this outfit, partnering white with light gray. I don’t think that it’s a common color scheme to find this time of year, which makes it all the better – you’ll stand out in the best way. Knowing me and my affinity for the most neutral of outfits, I’d probably reach for the gray blanket scarf first. I had to dig for the blue scarf– bright just isn’t my thing. I’m thinking maybe it should be though… I’m a fan of this look.
